Depending on the haute couturier and the garment, the price of a couture item runs from $10, 000 for a blouse to $40, 000 and often beyond that figure. The price is so high because of service, work, an exclusive design and premium-class fabrics of the finest quality. Besides, every customer will get a garment to fit them ideally. It takes approximately 100-150 hours to make a handmade luxuty suit and up to 1000 hours for an embellished evening dress with thousands of beads sewed by hand. A couture house like Chanel, for instance, will have about 150 regular customers ordering couture items, and a couture house like Dior will make around 20 luxury wedding gowns yearly Couture houses use only expensive luxurious fabrics, including expensive silks, fine wools, cashmeres, cottons, linens, leather, suede and furs. Apart from clothes, well-known fashion houses make chic luxurious accessories, such as hats, buttons, belts, gems, footwear, handbags. Those who can afford luxury clothes, pay for exclusivity and the privacy guaranteed by the system.
